An ignorant team
Last week Michael Forsyth, chairman of the Economic Committee of the House of Lords, released a report on immigration and the EU. The report stated that without continuing EU immigration companies would have to change the way they recruited staff, including offering higher wages, investing in automation or even completely changing their methods. They concluded: “All these options may lead to higher prices for consumers.”
It is now clear the Conservative Government does not have the necessary data on many aspects of leaving the EU, from immigration numbers (and which immigrants are essential to our society) through virtually all aspects of business.
From our financial services through to manufacturing, leaving the EU is going to affect markets. The negotiating team seem to have little knowledge of present circumstances which have to be used to project our future potential and demand.
Since most Scottish day-today affairs are now governed by the Scottish Parliament, is it not time for it to see if it can come to some special arrangement with the EU to protect Scotland from the stupidity of the Conservative Government at Westminster?
