One presumes Holyrood and Scottish Government buildings already have unisex toilets or plan to introduce them, if they are to become the norm in schools (your report, 19 July). Only if this is the case can the aims of the Equality Network regarding sexual and gender equality be supported politically.

Wouldn’t it help the debate if the concepts of sex and gender were not used interchangeably?

The binary sex categories can be defined biologically and distinguished from gender, which could be confined to social and cultural factors. Especially as it is reported Facebook now offers a choice of 51 different genders.
