International clashes with Scotland and England helped Lennon to lure Slivka

- By CRAIG FORBES

Lithuania midfielder Vykintas Slivka says facing Gordon Strachan’s national team gave him a taste for Scottish football as he completed his move to Hibernian. Manager Neil Lennon revealed on Tuesday night that Slivka, pictured, had agreed a three-year deal and Hibs have now received international clearance following his move from Juventus for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has won 19 caps and has had loan spells at Modena, Den Bosch and Ascoli during his five years on the books of Juve.

Vykintas, who could face Scotland again in a World Cup qualifier on 1 September, said: “I am very happy to have signed for Hibernian. This is another step in my career and I am really excited to be joining the club. The international matches against Scotland and England have given me a taste of the British style of football, and now I can’t wait to get started.”
