UK halts genocide extradition bid
A bid to extradite five men from the UK accused of taking part in genocide in Rwanda has been blocked by the High Court.
Two judges in London agreed with a Westminster Magistrates’ Court decision in December 2015 that there was a real risk they would be denied a fair trial if returned to Rwanda.
Lord Justice Irwin and Mr Justice Foskett dismissed a Rwandan government appeal, but held out the possibility of three of the five being returned some time in the future.
