Former MP lands job advising Sturgeon
A former SNP MP has been appointed one of Nicola Sturgeon’s taxpayer-funded special advisers.
Callum Mccaig has landed the job after losing his Aberdeen South seat to the Scottish Conservatives’ Ross Thomson.
He brings the First Minister’s total number of special advisers, also known as Spads, up to 14. A Spad typically receives between £40,000 and £84,000. The total cost of the Spad team is around £1 million.
A Labour source said: “Having been rejected by voters, the public will be surprised to learn that Callum Mccaig is now on the First Minister’s pay roll.”
