Softer satire
Dr Mary Brown’s Scotsman 200 piece (“The Windsors are another fine example from the sharp end of satire”) is problematical. The selectivity of contemporary satire is concerning. No such programme would be ever be broadcast about Muslim personalities or Islamic culture in Britain today. Neither would any parody of the BBC’S grossly overplayed and disproportionately expensive recording of the 50th anniversary of the legalisation of homosexuality be deemed acceptable.
