Rangers fans abuse charity collector
An eccentric charity collector was abused by Rangers fans - for wearing Celtic colours
John Burkhill, 78, nicknamed the “Mad man with a pram”, walks miles each day collecting money for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of his wife June.
On match days he collects donations outside Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium and has already raised £750,000.
Mr Burkhill dresses in the charity’s trademark green and white colours and on match days stands outside the stadium.
The OAP from the West Midlands was sworn at before some fans stole items from the pram he pushes around the streets in his bid to raise £1 million. Rangers FC’S Club 1872 supporter’s group has since apologised and started a crowd funding page to “right a wrong”.
