Scots stuck on plane in US

- By SAM SHEDDEN

A planeload of passengers who landed in Rhode Island, USA on a flight from Edinburgh were stuck on the jet for more than an hour because there were no customs officials to greet them.

The Norwegian Air passengers were not allowed off the plane at TF Green Airport on Monday night until staff from US Customs and Border Protection could get there.

Airline spokesman Anders Lindstrom said there was “a misunderstanding in terms of staffing” for the four-timesper-week flight.

Rhode Island Airport Corporation, which operates TF Green Airport, called it “a temporary operational miscommunication with Customs and Border Protection”.

The flight arrived at 7:35pm local time and passengers were allowed to leave the plane at 8:46pm, the airport corporation said. Mr Lindstrom said the airline had sympathy for the passengers.
