Brexit blues

-

Andrew HN Gray has bombarded this newspaper with anti-independence invective for years. Now the Pyrrhic victory handed him by the setback for the SNP in June has allowed him to switch seamlessly to Johnny Foreigner across the English Channel (Letters 31 July).

As brit tania“rules” the waves – with an aircraft carrier but no effective planes and nuclear submarines which can’t be used unless the US allows it, while 25 per cent of its people live in poverty and without a decent house – North Britons such as Mr Mackay continue to fantasise that, somehow, Brexit will work out. I’m afraid it won’t and, inevitably, I am reminded of the Irish saying that “England’s travails are our opportunity”. Three hundred plus years is enough.
