Pistorius in hospital with chest pains

Oscar Pistorius has been taken from prison to hospital for medical examinations amid South African media reports that the former track star and convicted murderer was suffering from chest pains.

Pistorius was taken to hospital yesterday and had been expected to return to prison later in the day, Department of corrections spokesman Logan Maistry said.

However, Pistorius will now stay overnight in hospital “for observation”, Mr Maistry said.

He refused to give details of Pistorius’s medical complaint and said only that he was having “medical examinations”.
