Swiss bank Julius Baer steps up UK presence

Swiss private banking group Julius Baer International has flagged Glasgow as one of three planned new offices in the UK later this year as it extends its wealth management operation.

The group said yesterday it had hired a number of “high calibre” wealth management relationship managers for the expansion, which will also include new offices in Manchester and Leeds.

The move bucks the trend of some financial firms moving staff to the EU following last year’s Brexit vote.

There will also be a new team, but not new office, in Belfast, Julius Baer said.
