Escaped prisoner found in village

A prisoner reported missing after being treated in hospital has been found.

Police said Lee Hipson, 24, was detained after being found in the village of Newtonhill on the outskirts of Aberdeen yesterday.

He had escaped from the city’s Royal Infirmary at around 12.20am yesterday and officers said “extensive searches” had been carried out to find him.

He is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday. Police thanked the public for their support.
