Mark O’hara believes Dundee can prove to their top-six rivals they mean business by beating Ross County at Dens Park intoday’spremiershipopener.

Homemanagerneilmccann was called in five games from the end of last season to rescue the Dark Blues from relegation.

Now midfielder O’hara says his side are determined to make a significant improvement on their eventual tenthplace finish – and victory over County is just the way to show they have serious intentions.

He said: “County have got some good quality all over the park so it will be tough. But I think it’s a real chance for us to put a marker down if we can get a win. It will show we mean business.

“We have County at home and then Hamilton away in our first two games of the season and the manager has said we need to be targeting two wins. He wants to install a winning mentality into us and if we can get off to a good start it will make the whole season easier.

“A club the size of this one should be aiming for top six. There’s no reason with the squad we have this year that we can’t do that.”

Ross County will be without the suspended pair of Jim O’brien and Craig Curran.

Former Inverness striker Billy Mckay will also have to wait to make his County debut as he recovers from groin surgery.

Mckay was brought in to replace last season’s top scorer Liam Boyce who was sold to Burton Albion in the summer.
