What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

Culottes from Urban Outfitters. They’re pond slime green, as if I’m in camouflage for a trip to a badly kept leisure centre.

What are you addicted to buying?

Underpants from Marks & Spencer. When I was in Australia, any ex-pat Brit I met would ask about Marks & Spencer as if it were a dead relative. “I miss them so much. There’s no one else like them.”

Best ever bargain?

The most incredible vintage shift dress that I got for £16. I wear it to EVERY WEDDING EVER.

Who has great style?

Ru Paul. From her stylish suits in every colour of the rainbow, to incredible ballgowns that cinch in the waist and show off those toned arms like Calippos popping out of their sleeves.

Name your favourite high street shop.

H&M. They have a good range of standard stuff to insane. You can pop in for a plain T-shirt or a skirt that looks like a canoe, or both.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

I bought a new floaty linen top and wore it to a dinner party. As I raised my arm to get the waiter’s attention, all the buttons unhooked and I revealed my entire chest to the table.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

A beautiful Eighties summer dress that I got from Herman Brown in Edinburgh – my favourite vintage shop. It’s so comfy yet makes me feel glam like Bette Midler. It is a floral print, which is what my mother has always dreamed of me wearing, since she assaulted me with Laura Ashley as a child. n Evans’ show Joy Provision! is at Pleasance Courtyard Cabaret Bar, 2:40pm, until 28August. Tickets, from £10, www.edfringe.com
