Pixies

This year’s Summer Nights at the Bandstand line-up is a broad church – from Sir Tom Jones, returning tonight, right through to local heroes from the 80s (Hipsway) and 90s (Arab Strap) – but indie rock titans Pixies will be the outfit to shake Kelvingrove Park to its foundations over two nights with their bone-rattling surf punk and bug-eyed garage rock. Since reuniting in 2004, there have been a couple of new albums of fair-tomiddling material but the songs from their original incarnation still sound fearless and righteous.
