Popular rare stinky plant is still standing
A giant stinking flower that has attracted more than 15,000 visitors to Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Garden is still erect after a record five nights.
The 212cm tall Amorphophallus titanum burst in to bloom on Tuesday for only the second time in Scotland.
The plant, known as the “corpse flower” because of the “dead meat” smell it emits to attract pollinators, was only expected to last for “only one or two days”.
The only previous occasion the plant has flowered was in 2015 when it lasted for four days before wilting.
