Recipe for chaos
Although the Scottish National Party appears to be on summer holiday (or working at the Edinburgh Festival), their quest for independence (now only via EU migrant votes) and Brexit-bashing continues.
By doing so the SNP have utterly failed to take into account the key factor – the total chaos the Scottish economy would be in should independence occur.
Current interest rates would soar, the economy would be under severe pressure. National and personal debt would be unsustainable, given no protection from the Bank of England nor the current UK currency which we would undoubtedly have to give up.
These issues are just too overwhelming for the SNP to cope with. The EU would not lend a hand either if we were near bankruptcy. It would be refreshing if, after their holidays, the SNP faced up to these questions directly.
If the SNP came into politics to help Scotland then there can be no finer way than to abandon independence permanently and work with Westminster, not against it.
Otherwise we will all be appearing at the Fringe.
