Don’t blame brexit

-

Having read several letters and listened to Remain politicians and pundits blaming the current airport delays on Brexit and warning of more to come after leaving, it is time to say enough is enough.

If you are looking for an issue to blame Brexit for then at least make it a valid one. The current passport controls causing delays have nothing to do with Brexit. It is a result of free movement within the Schengen travel area that has enabled terrorists to travel freely across large parts of Europe.

Combined with heightened terrorist threats, a complete failure of some European Union countries to prepare for implementation of the new checks and the start of the summer holiday period, a perfect storm of travel disruption has been created.

All passengers, including all EU citizens, are subject to checks.

Brexit will be difficult and there will be problems that can be laid at its door, but please move on from the referendum Project Fear mode and stop blaming Brexit for everything from the economy to the weather, no matter what the real facts are.
