Cooling off for the games: Players set to suffer 40-degree heat

Children play in a fountain at the Uefa Super Cup fan zone in Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, the day before day the Uefa Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Manchester United. In previous years, the match has been played in Monaco’s Satde Louis II stadium. The heatwave in southern Europe is set to see temperatur­es at the Macedonian stadium hit 40C, prompting officials to designate two “cooling breaks” during the game, in which both sides will be able to re-hydrate.

The first will be at the 30-minute mark with the second at the 75- minute mark. Cristiano Ronaldo is set to start the game amid rumours that he could switch back from Madrid to Manchester United.
