#SPORTSDIRECT

Sports Direct has apologised for issuing a notice that appeared to ban staff from speaking languages other than English in a Welsh store, saying it was a “misunderstanding”. @nestajames1 said: Really @Sportsdirectuk ? You do realise that Welsh is a first language for many people? Last time I shop in Sports Direct” @G_carter31 commented: “Welsh is a dying language that most Welsh don’t really care for no more, only the Welsh that can speak it care for it” @ Russellrelliott offered: “To help celebrate the Eisteddfod Welsh cultural festival on Anglesey, Sports Direct over the bridge in Bangor bans the Welsh language!” @stoneorder added: “I’m no Welsh language activist, but is this the excuse? Sports Direct ‘English-only’ note a ‘misunderstanding’”

#TRUMP

Former CNN contributor Kayleigh Mcenany is now delivering “real news” on behalf of Donald Trump from his New York residence. The video, posted on the president’s Facebook page, has been compared by critics to state-owned channels in other countries. @Teamtrump tweeted: “Join @ kayleighmcenany as she provides you the news of the week from Trump Tower in New York! #MAGA #Teamtrump” @Aj_ski_bum observed: “She’s reporting from Trump Tower, his name is advertised behind her and she states it’s “real news.” This is 100 per cent propaganda of his making” @Johnjharwood commented; “Mcenany says ‘President Trump has created 1m jobs’ not ‘US economy has created 1m jobs’” @Jamescrisp6 asked: “How long before she reports Trump’s 11 hole in ones?”

#BAKEOFF

Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding has clarified controversial remarks at the weekend. The new Great British Bake Off host had initially said that he gets more work when he’s thinner. He now says he was joking. @puppaz suggested: “Please do the first episode refusing to try anything. The outrage will be worth it. Or stuff an entire cake in your mouth” @picklesthomas said: “It’ll never not fascinate me how many people take things so literally. Brits are meant to be good at sarcasm”
