Police seek two men as part of Paisley murder investigation

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Paisley three weeks ago are trying to trace two men seen in the area at the time of the attack.

Craig Mcclelland, 31, was stabbed in Tweed Avenue, Paisley, on July 23 while on his way to a friend’s house.

He was rushed to hospital following the attack, but later died. His family said they are “completely devastated” by his death.

Police said extensive inquiries are taking place and have appealed for information on two men they want to speak to as part of the investigation. The pair were seen around Tweed Avenue close to the time of the attack and officers believe they may hold “vital information”.

The first man is aged between 25 and 30, over 6ft tall and was wearing a light grey tracksuit.

The second man is of a similar age, around 5ft 9in with a slim build. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing and white trainers. He may also have been carrying a yellow rucksack.

Police previously appealed for a man seen walking his dog around the time of the attack to contact them and he has now spoken to detectives. A force spokesman said: “Extensive inquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances and locate whoever is responsible.

Officers are today issuing descriptions of two men they would like to speak to as part of the ongoing investigation.

These two men were seen near to Tweed Avenue around the time of the murder and officers believe they may hold information which is vital to the ongoing inquiry. Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
