‘Wait was nerve-racking but I’m really pleased’

-

Ross Witney-hunter of Edinburgh’s Royal High School achieved straight As in his exams for the the third year in a row – but still has one more hurdle to clear before securing a place at Cambridge.

The 17-year-old earned five As in his Advanced Highers and has been offered a conditional place at the university subject to the results of his STEP exams, sat by all prospective maths students.

Ross said: “It was nerveracking waiting for the results but I’m really pleased with them. What made it more difficult was seeing my friends go on holiday in June, as I was still studying for my Cambridge exams.”

In previous years, he earned six As at Higher and seven As in his National 5s, so yesterday’s results completed a triple sweep of top grades.
