Nisbet finds his feet after Hibs struggle

- By ANGUS WRIGHT

Kevin Nisbet admits he was much more comfortable during Partick Thistle’s victory over St Johnstone after his unexpected entrance against Hibernian.

Nisbet struggled to make his mark after replacing the injured Kris Doolan half an hour into the Premiership opener at Hibs, but few Thistle players shone during their 3-1 defeat on Saturday.

It was a different story for Nisbet and his team-mates on Tuesday as the Jags beat Saints 3-0 in Perth to move into the Betfred Cup quarter-finals.

The 20-year-old won a penalty and set up Chris Erskine’s last-minute goal with an excellentflick, aswellascausingstevenandersonandjoeshaughnessy problems with his movement and work-rate. “I got into my stride much more easily,” he said. “At the weekend, I was a bit off it and my play was disjointed at times.

“Playing from the start let me find my game quickly and meant that my team-mates were in the mindset to play to my strengths. Hopefully, the goal isn’t too far away but it’s more important that we perform well and win games.”

Partick manager Alan Archibald added: “He got a bit of stick for Saturday’s performance. 0 Kevin Nisbet: Starred in 3-0 Betfred Cup success in Perth. He is only a young lad, people forget that. But I thought he answered them. His work-rate and energy were incredible.” Raith Rovers have announced the shock departure of chief executive Eric Drysdale. After boardroom discussions about the club’s structure, the Fife outfit have decided the role of CEO is an unnecessaryexpensefollowing their costly relegation to League 1.

A statement on the club website said the decision had been reached “reluctantly” and Drysdale would leave Stark’s Park immediately.

A Rovers spokesperson said: “The board would like to thank Eric Drysdale for his many years of dedicated service to the club in various roles over almost 19 years.”
