Celtic Griffiths heads for 100

-

A new season. The pitches are pristine green, the goalmouths beg to be dived in but if you look closely you can see the base of sand that will appear in the winter gloom. Scottish football is also built on a base of sand that will soon be exposed, and when it is there will be no winners or losers, just more questions, accusations and regrets.

The game on the pitch is the easiest part not to question. Leigh Griffiths, after his heroics at Hampden, has lifted his game to a level that most didn’t think possible. He is a testament to hard work, listening to coaches and making the best of your talent.

He’s been talismanic already this season, but his goals should make him a welcome addition to the Celtic 100 Club before it’s finished.
