Motorcycli­st killed in country crash named

A motorcycli­st who died in a crash on a country road in the Borders has been named by police.

David Arthur Shilton, 72, from Wallyford in East Lothian, died at the scene of the crash off the A708 near Moffat at about 7:45pm on Wednesday.

Police said he was riding a green BMW R1100 along with a group of other bikers when the crash happened.

The road was closed for eight hours while officers investigat­ed the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
