Musselburgh win on Dalgleish Wish list

● Three-time course winner looks one to follow in feature at East Lothian track

- By GLENDALE

Keith Dalgleish is expecting another big run from his three-time course winner Sebastian’s Wish in the 1m 6f Archerfield Cup at Musselburgh today.

The Carluke raider, who has also scored over 2m and 1m 4f at the East Lothian venue, faces five rivals in the £20,000 feature handicap.

Sebastian’s Wish remains a horse on the up and can defy his career-high mark of 83 here.

Dalgleish, who saddled a Scottish monthly record 15 winners in July, said: “Graham Lee rides him as his regular jockey Joe Fanning is on Yorkidding for Mark Johnston.

“Joe won on his time over two miles and said there would be no problem in coming back in trip.

“He’s normally ridden handily and is a lovely big horse. He enjoys bowling along and any distance from 1m 4f upwards is fine – hopefully he is still improving.”

Dalgleish could also have a chance of scooping the prize with his other runner, Kensington Star, who has winning form over this trip at Carlisle in June.

Jim Goldie saddles the other Scottish runner in Great Fighter, twice a winner at Musselburgh already this summer – most recently in the Stobo Castle Ladies Day Gold Cup.

Alexandrakollontai gained the twelfth win of her career at Redcar recently and she appears again for Hawick trainer Alistair Whillans in the EBF Scottish Premier Series Fillies’ Handicap over 7f. Her rivals include The Stalking Moon and Whatsthemessage who won last time out over course and distance and Thirsk respectively.

At Brighton, Harbour Rock, who fell short for his supporters last time out, can reward those who keep the faith in the Marathonbet Non-league Challenge Handicap.

David Simcock’s charge will be having just his fifth career outing in this event, but will also be stepping up to 10 furlongs for the first time in a move that looks sure to suit.

The three-year-old has been campaigned solely over a mile so far, running twice as a juvenile with credit before eventually opening his account at the third time of asking at Goodwood in June.

He proved pretty game to win on that occasion and only just failed to follow up when switched to handicap company, taking just a touch too long to really hit top gear before being beaten just under a length by the eased-down winner. Given the time it took for Harbour Rock’s challenge to begin in earnest that day, the change in distance looks a logical step as he certainly was not stopping in the finish and his mark of 80 remains competitive.

Under The Covers can show her rivals a clean pair of heels in the Harry Bloom Memorial “Brighton Bullet” Handicap.

Ron Harris’ charge has really got into the groove this term after a bit of a false start to her career, with her sole juvenile run followed by a year off the track.

She ran much better than her 200-1 odds suggested she would on her return at Newmarket in April and despite two subsequent disappointments, it was not a massive surprise to see her win at Bath in June.

Put up 9lb for that success, Under The Covers had to settle for second back at that track last in June, pushing the winner all the way to be beaten just a neck and she remains a useful type.

Seduce Me can bring up her hat-trick in the Fly London Southend Airport To Budapest EBF Stallions Fillies’ Handicap at Newmarket.

She made a bit of a slow start to the season for Karl Burke but an eight-length verdict at Newbury at the end of July was supplemented by another cosy success under a 6lb penalty at Epsom just over a week ago.

Seduce Me must shoulder another 6lb here but even with that extra weight, she will be hard to stop now she is on a roll.

Wafy is one to watch as he makes his racecourse bow in the Fly London Southend Airport To Lyon Maiden Stakes.
