Queen of the South Win bonus
The summer was filled with negativity. After a flurry of early signings, transfer business came to an abrupt halt with talk of budget cuts and belt-tightening. This has left us with a threadbare squad led by a manager yet to win over some supporters.
A mediocre League Cup campaign, amid talk of off-field turmoil heightened by the departure of club legend Jim Thomson, did little to improve the mood. When the pre-match rumour of an injury to Stephen Dobbie came to pass, quickly followed by our goalkeeper limping off, it was hard to imagine things getting much worse. The three-goal victory that followed showed that in football you should always expect the unexpected.
