Dundee United Recipe for success

-

This summer has felt like the shortest close season ever. The desperately disappointing finale at Hamilton has taken a long time to digest and is still repeating on me even now.

However, the appetite is beginning to return and the summer signings give me some hope that Ray Mckinnon finally has the right recipe. The league cup debacle in which we were drawn to play the team we had just beaten was offset by the anticipation of another derby. An opening away league win against a team we would expect to be competing for the title is actually a massive result. If that had been in midwinter it would be hailed as a six-pointer. All in all we have to have grounds for optimism but, as last May reminded me, never count your chickens.
