Doing her best Mccolgan leads way for Scots
Eilish Mccolgan produced the standout performance on a big night of Scottish action at the athletics world championships .
The 26-year-old Dundonian showed her amazement after slicing almost four and a half seconds off her personal best to secure qualification for Sunday’s 5,000m final. She will line up with Laura Muir, who went through as a fastest loser after finishing seventh in a tough first heat. Chris O’hare and Jake Wightman made safe progress from the men’s 1,500m heats, as did Lynsey Sharp in the women’s 800m. GB captain Eilidh Doyle was eighth in her 400m hurdles final.
