THE GOLDEN RULES

Competitors can use their own pan but they must have a maximum diameter of 50cm and measure no higher than 15cm.

Warnings and two-minute penalties can apply to those who make a false start. Competitors who disturb others risk disqualification. Members of a team are not allowed sand or gravel between one another.

Only one member of a team is allowed in a panning pool at any given time.

There is a 15-minute time limit in panning heats.
