Woman dies in early morning house blaze

A woman has died following an early morning house fire.

The 46-year-old was rescued by firefighters but died at the scene in Annan.

The emergency services were called to the semidetached house at Addison Place at 2.20am yesterday to find it ablaze.

Three fire engines were sent and firefighters wearing protective breathing apparatus tackled the flames.

Police officers and paramedics were also in attendance.

Authorities said the fire was not believed to be suspicious.
