Kenyan challenger says vote was hacked
Kenyans are waiting to hear the result of Tuesday’s disputed election, with President Uhuru Kenyatta holding a strong lead in provisional results that opposition candidate Raila Odinga says were hacked. Supporters of Mr Odinga have said an unofficial tally shows he won. But election officials say only they have the authority to declare the winner, and international election observers say they have seen no signs of interference in the vote.
Violence broke out this week in some opposition strongholds in parts of the capital, Nairobi.
Former US secretary of state John Kerry reassured voters the election wasn’t rigged, saying: “We believe that the election’s commission in Kenya has put together a process that will allow each and every vote’s integrity to be proven.”
