Jags joy at Storey and Sammon deals

- By ANDY NEWPORT

Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald believes the double signing of frontmen Miles Storey and Conor Sammon will give his side a different attacking dimension.

The Jags paid an undisclosed fee to land Storey from Aberdeen on a two-year deal.

Out-of-favour Hearts hitman Sammon, meanwhile, has checked into Firhill after agreeing a season-long loan switch from Tynecastle.

The Thistle manager has been looking for extra firepower, having largely relied on Kris Doolan for goals in recent seasons. Archibald said: “We’ve been working hard to get a couple of attacking options over the line so I’m delighted to get both Conor and Miles signed.

“It now gives us four excellent and very different attacking options, which is a great position to be in. Both players bring good experience at this level and are obviously familiar with the league and the opposition we will be playing against week in, week out. The other positive is that they are both fit and should be able to hit the ground running, which is a massive bonus for us.”

Storey has had a frustrating 12-month spell at Pittodrie but netted 13 goals in 39 appearances for Inverness during 2015/16 while on loan from Swindon.

Irishman Sammon also returned to Scotland last summer when he signed for Hearts, but spent the second half of the campaign on loan at former club Kilmarnock after struggling to fit in at Tynecastle.
