New London photo hub for online retailer

Online luxury retailer Matchesfas­hion.com is creating more than 150 new jobs with the launch of a London photograph­y hub.

Matchesfas­hion.com said it was to turn a 24,000 sq ft East London unit into a creative space for photo shoots and editorial projects.

The firm said that the new positions would be created by by 2021 and the move would bolster its studio output by 50 per cent to about 2,000 products per week.

It comes amid reports that the retailer is locked in talks with investment funds that could value the company in excess of £600 million.

Apax Partners, KKR and Permira are among the private equity firms reported to be weighing up bids.

Ulric Jerome, chief executive of Matchesfas­hion, said the new studio in the Here East developmen­t at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will “help us to achieve our plans to generate even more innovative and engaging content for our brands and our customers”.
