Spectators ‘happy’ before fatal crash

-

A marshal on duty during the Jim Clark Memorial Rally where three people were killed when a car careered off the road has told a fatal accident inquiry how the mood of spectators was “happy” before the crash.

Jonathan Welsh, 22, was one of two marshals on the Leet Water humpback bridge at the Swinton stage of the rally on 31 May, 2014, when 64-yearold Iain Provan, 63-year-old Elizabeth Allan and 71-yearold Len Stern were killed. The inquiry, at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, continues.
