Ryan nets brace on Pars debut
Dunfermline signing Andy Ryan netted a firsthalf double to ease his new team into the second round of the Irn-bru Cup, writes Iain Collin at East End Park.
The 22-year-old, recruited earlier in the day from Airdrie, was thrown straight into the Pars team and could hardly have hoped for a better debut.
The striker speared in a magnificent volley in the 24th minute after Michael Paton’s cross had been knocked in the air by Thomas O’brien.
His second, after a debatable red card for Arbroath’s Ricky Little for a last-man foul on David Hopkirk, was more routine, heading in a Fraser Aird corner from close range five minutes from the break.
The only downside for the Pars was a late red card for Conner Duthie for two bookings in injury time.
