Unclear power?

-

We must surely be red-faced on hearing David Davis stating the need for “constructive ambiguity” as a negotiating tactic in EU Brexit talks!

He claims it is difficult to be clear in HMG proposals because the tactic is to be unclear. I suppose, then, that means that it is being made up on the hoof. In other words – clueless.

Apropos trade talks and frictionless trade with the EU, is it not the exact opposite that is necessary? Clarity and precise detail are required. Business and officials need to know exactly what is being proposed prior to any implementation as lead times are long.

JOHN EDGAR Merrygreen Place, Stewarton Perhaps I am pedantic but the questions I responded “Yes” to in the recent referenda were basically: “Do you want Scotland to remain in a UK Union?” and: “Do you want the UK to Remain in the EU?” At no time, neither I nor any of my fellow citizens have been asked, “Would you like Scotland to remain in the EU?” There is a vast difference between these last two questions. To presume, as the SNP does, that those of us who voted “Yes” to the UK staying translates to wanting an independent Scotland to stay is, at best, unsubstantiated.

There is a vast difference between a 60 million population country having some authority in the EU, and a six million population country being pushed around by European bullies.
