Ringing the changes: Big Ben repairs get under way

The hammer strikes one of the four smaller bells surrounding Big Ben which will be removed and cleaned during renovation works.

Concerns were raised earlier this week that the bells – which fall silent on Monday – will not be heard again until 2021.
