Celebrity Masterchef ratings increase

Celebrity Masterchef’s series opener was a ratings success as food fans tuned in to watch a new bunch of stars roll up their sleeves in the kitchen.

The 12th series of the BBC One show, presided over by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, scored an average of 4.4 million viewers, a peak of 4.6 million and a 23 per cent audi- ence share when it aired from 8pm until 9pm on Wednesday.

This is more than one million up from last year’s series, which opened with an average of 3.3 million viewers in June 2016. This data is based on overnight ratings, which do not account for those watching on catch up.
