Alert issued over rail yard trespassers

Numerous reports of individuals trespassing into a rail yard in Fife have sparked a police alert.

Officers at the British Transport Police said the incidents had occurred at the Thornton rail yard near Strathore Road. The yard is still in operational use and is close to the mainline tracks.

Police said they had been told many times in recent weeks of individuals, including children, trespassing into the yard. They have stressed the site is not a playground and that there are a number of dangerous hazards which could result in injury.
