Alert issued to cyclists after spate of thefts

Police in Aviemore are encouraging cyclists to keep their bikes safe and secure after a number of thefts in the town.

Thefts of nine bicycles have been reported in the year to date – three of which have happened in the last few weeks.

Officers in Badenoch and Strathspey are working to deter and detect bike thefts.

Constable Keri Jones, who is leading the crime prevention drive, said: “We are concerned by this trend as the number of bikes reported stolen is considerable within the context of the Aviemore area.”
