Cameron aiming to keep Arbroath in race

- By GARY HEATLY

Craig Cameron returns to the Arbroath team as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Mazars Grange and stay on course for the title against Glenrothes today.

The eight-wicket defeat to their closest rivals for the top spot seven days ago has made things interesting with just two rounds of fixtures left.

Arbroath still know two wins will do it, but Grange are breathing down their necks and third-placed Heriot’s are waiting to pounce should the top two slip up.

Arbroath will be glad to be back home at Lochlands but Glenrothes have had a positive season and are sitting fourth so it should be a good contest.

Cameron returns to the Arbroath XI for Jack Waller. Captain Marc Petrie said: “After last week’s disappointing performance we are very eager to get back out there. We are more focused than ever and the positive is that things are still in our hands.

“We know that we must put in a strong performance against a Glenrothes team who have been performing well this year.”

With regular skippers afya an Sharif unavailable, Vasu Reddy captains the visitors.

Grange head into their home match with Aberdeenshire on a high, but without captain Preston Mommsen, who is attending a wedding. He said: “I have faith in the team that we can go out there and get another victory.

“We can only concentrate on ourselves and we need two wins in this last fortnight to have a chance of finishing top.

“We will keep fighting to the end and hopefully I’ll receive some nice messages regarding the score on Saturday night.”

Third-placed Heriot’s go to Inverleith to play SMRH, who are safe following Falkland’s relegation, while the visitors have Craig Mackellar and Bilal Ashraf coming in.

Watsonians and Carlton meet in a mid-table battle before they clash again in the Citylets Scottish Cup final 24-hours later. Falkland host Tayside Group Forfarshire.
