Woman, 79, hurt fighting off bag snatcher in street

A man tried to rob a 79-year-old woman of her handbag in broad daylight in Kinross.

The victim fought off the thief and managed to retain her property but sustained minor injuries in the struggle.

Police said the man, in his late teens or early 20s, pushed the woman to the ground and attempted to rob her.

He struck while she was walking at the junction of Station Road and Douglas Crescent at 3.30pm on Saturday.

The man fled emptyhanded and made off in a white car.
