Woman ‘serious’ after attack with weapon

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in Glasgow. Around 2:30pm on Saturday, the 39-year-old woman was walking in Closeburn Street when she was approached from behind and struck on the shoulder and the back of the head with a weapon. The attacker was wearing a dark grey tracksuit.

The woman attended Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she was being treated for a laceration to her shoulder.

Hospital staff described her condition as serious.
