Mo Farah bade a victorious farewell on his final appearance on a British track at the Muller Grand Prix in Birmingham, the 34-year-old unleashing his familiar late kick to win the 3,000 metres, writes Mark Woods.

On four occasions an Olympic champion, and six times now a world champion, the Londoner’s exit might have been stage-managed but he did not fluff the script as he surged through the rain at the Alexander Stadium to cross the line in 7:38.64 as the expected ovation began.
