Appeal for witnesses in hit and run investigation

- By LUCINDA CAMERON

Police hunting the hit-andrun motorcyclist who left a ten-year-old boy seriously injured are urging any witnesses to contact them.

The child was using a pedestrian crossing in the Drylaw area of Edinburgh at 6:35pm on Saturday evening when he was struck by the stolen motorbike.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the city’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Police said that at the time he was struck, two motorcycles, each with one person on board, appeared to have gone through a red light.

The boy was struck by the second motorcycle, a white Triumph Daytona 650cc, which carried on for a short distance before the rider abandoned the machine and ran off. Those with information are asked to call 101.
