Embezzling accountant is struck off

An accountant who was jailed for embezzling £25,000 from an upmarket golf club where he worked has been struck off.

Johndoyle,65,ofnewton Mearns, helped himself to cash over a six-year period while managing secretary of Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshi­re.

He used a club bank account, credit card and Paypal account to fill his own pockets by snapping up personal items and golfing equipment. At Paisley Sheriff Court in May he was sentenced to six months imprisonme­nt after admitting embezzleme­nt.
