Heart of Midlothian Fit for purpose

- Roddy Elliott

Most of us would have taken a point at Ibrox before Saturday, given where we are this season. In the last two games we have been well organised in defence and far more committed to the cause than under Ian Cathro. One reason is the influence of Christophe Berra, but Jon Daly has indicated a greater emphasis on fitness is also contributing. There were always comments that Cathro’s training was excellent on technique and structure but lacked physical intensity. If Daly has not done enough to get the full-time job he will leave his successor better placed than he was. The short list is three and Steven Pressley is probably favourite. If appointed, he deserves full support rather than harking back to a perceived past insult.
