Wee Rangers part company with Coughlin

-

Berwick Rangers manager John Coughlin had his contract terminated by the League 2 club last night.

The 54-year-old’s second spell at Shielfield ended after 21 months in charge.

The former St Mirren, Stenhousemuir and East Stirling manager led the Borderers to the Division Three title in 2007 but after replacing Colin Cameron they have been a bottom half of the table side and only avoided the relegation play-off last season with a win on the final day.

Saturday’s 5-1 home defeat by Annan, which followed a 4-0 loss at Stirling Albion, led to his exit.

A spokesperson said last night: “In view of recent results, the board met with John Coughlin to discuss his future with the club. Following this meeting it has been decided to terminate John’s contract by mutual consent. We would like to thank John and wish him well for the future.”
