Ross County Missing sword

- John Maxwell

Things looked just dandy at half-time at Fir Park on Saturday. County’s 3-5-2 shape was causing Motherwell a lot of trouble. Craig Curran was having a stormer against the centre-backs and Chris Routis kept bursting past Motherwell’s holding midfielders. The Staggies should have gone into the break with a one or two-goal lead.

Motherwell then changed to 3-5-2 to match up and it worked, because the sides then looked very even. Then Andrew Davies fresh-aired a clearance to gift Richard Tait a goal at the far post. Alex Schalk blazed a one-on-one over shortly after and then Kenny Van der Weg’s red card meant it was game over. County need to put opponents to the sword when they have the advantage or they will really struggle.
